BYU vs. UNLV

Ryan's parents got us tickets to go with them to the BYU vs. UNLV game a few weeks ago in Vegas. We had a really fun time and really good seats. I honestly could not believe how small the stadium was. The whole time I felt like I was at a Texas High School Football game. That is how small the stadium was :)
Scott and his friend Alexis came and sat by us for a little while. There were tons of BYU fans that drove down for the game.

Dianne's 50th Birthday

I know this is a little late in coming, but back in September Ryan's family came into town to surprise Ryan's mom for her 50th birthday. We had cake and ice cream at our house, went out to eat and went to a BYU football game. It was so fun and she was definitely SURPRISED..... which was the whole point after all!
Notice Scott and my matching BYU shirts. Go cougars!

christensen family reunion

Wow I have been such a slacking blogger lately. I'm finally catching up and posting things from this summer! This is from Ryan's "Christensen" side of the family reunion this summer. Everyone in his dad's whole family was there. We had it up in Midway, Utah, at Homestead. It was so so fun! We hung out, ate food, swam, went to the Alpine Slides, and what not. The first few pictures are some of the family up at Park City riding the Alpine Slides.
We celebrated Ryan's Grandma Birdie's 90th Birthday! She actually turned 90 in February, but we celebrated it this summer when everyone was together. That night we had glow sticks and everyone was loving it. You can see we were having a lot of fun with them.
We would hang out and talk around dinner at night.
We also took a whole bunch of family pictures. These were just ones I took with my own camera, so I don't have one of Ryan's whole family.
The kids were enthralled with this golf ball. Ryan had them entertained forever.

oquirrh mountain temple open house

This week we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It is the 4th temple now in Salt Lake Valley. Honestly it was such a beautiful temple on the inside. Really neat fabric, artwork, etched glass, etc. We went with Ryan's brother Scott, Sister Amy and her kids, and Ryan's grandma and Grandpa Davis. It was great to see everyone! Thanks for getting the tickets Amy.

4th of july

On the 4th of July we hung out with Ryan's parents, Scott and his Aunt's and Uncle's and cousins. We all went boating at Jordanelle Reservoir. We decided to get there really early in the morning because we thought it would be really crowded since it was a holiday. It wasn't at all but it was FREEZING!!!! Can you tell by this picture!
I braved the cold water in the early morning before the sun was out because they had these handy wet-suites on the boat. They really are a life saver. After I went wake-boarding I got on the boat and make feet were totally jacked up. They had no circulation in them and they were white. It was FREAKY!
We had so much fun and got soooo tan. I'm sure that is what caused my fever blister all that sun! We are going boating again at the end of this month with Ryan's aunt and uncle and it's going to be so fun! I can't wait!

twilight swag

Check out the Twilight Swag my mother-in-law got me while she was in Port Angeles, WA. There was a bunch of "Twilight" themed stores and what have you. I can't wait to bust out my bobby pins for my students next year. And I really can't wait for New Moon to hit theaters this November. I may just have to pull my first ever midnight showing of the movie! Thanks Dianne for my cool Twilight stuff!!!

welcome back Scott

Ryan's brother Scott got home from his mission in May. He served in the Tacoma, Washington mission. He loved every minute of i,t and I know he was a great missionary. Here he is in the Las Vegas Airport getting right back into the swing of things at the slot machines :) Ryan and I had to wait until the weekend to drive down to Las Vegas, so this is when we were seeing Scott for the first time. Ryan and him were matching in their pastel shirts. We had a good time with all of Ryan's family that came in town for Scott's homecoming! Welcome home Scott, we're glad your back!

family portraits

Ryan's sister and her husband were having family photos taken over Thanksgiving so we all got in a few shots.  This was Ryan's families Christmas card photo!  Everyone but Scott who is on a mission.
Ken was giving Tanner candy in between pictures to try to get him to be a good little boy.
It was freezing once the sun went down!

denver

Okay, I am really going to catch up on my blogging........there will be another few post about Thanksgiving, then expect Christmas, and then all of our adventures in Houston!!!
So this is the day we went to Denver and went to the temple and then to the aquarium. Denver is a really neat city. It had a way bigger downtown than I was expecting.  It would be a really cool place to live!
We also met up with our really good friend, Steve St. Piere, who is the accounting program with Ryan. Last year Ryan probably spent more time with Steve than he did with me because of how often there group was working on projects together!
Notice the snowball mark on my back.  Ryan hit me pretty dead on when I was walking out of the restaurant.  Isn't it funny how it stuck in a perfect mark on my back though?!
And finally Tanner was enjoying his first ice cream cone he got to eat by himself.  It was pretty funny but very sticky I'm sure!

air force academy

One of the days we were in Colorado Springs we went and took a look around the Air Force Academy campus.  This is their chapel, it is kind of the  'big' thing to see on their campus.  It is really beautiful and neat.  They have different rooms and levels for different congregations to meet in.
Here Ryan is pretending to be an actual church goer.  Isn't the inside so neat.  It was designed to look like the inside of an airplane, and it kind of does. Here Tanner is running around.  His boots made him walk like Frankenstein, it was so funny because surprisingly he never really feel because of them...oh and also Ryan loved to get him to say "booots" by pointing to them!
And finally this is in front of the visitors center where I found out everything I could have ever wanted to know about the Air Force Academy.  And also, as a side note.  A kid I went to high school with in Texas has been the Air Force Academy's mascot for the past couple of years.  That was my claim to fame while I was there!
And here is a fuzzy picture of some of the campus.  Enjoy!

thanksgiving dinner

Thanksgiving dinner.  We had a fun time this Thanksgiving when we went to Colorado Springs to spend the vacation with Ryan's family.  His sister and her husband live there.  Here we are getting ready to eat the meal!
I made Grandma ReVoe's rolls and boy were they yummy!!!!!
We were all so very full by the end of the meal!  I couldn't even think of eating any pies yet!  I will have to post those pictures of all of the pies next.  We did some fun things while we were there too which I also have pictures of that I will be posting soon enough!
